The Short Version

GamepadTools runs all hardware tests locally in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit any data about your hardware to our servers. Period.

What We Do Collect

Like most websites, we use third-party services that may collect anonymous, aggregated data:

  • Google Analytics (if enabled): page visits, country, browser type, screen size — used only to understand which pages are popular.
  • Google AdSense (if enabled): cookies are used to serve relevant ads. You can opt out at Google's ad settings.
  • Server access logs: standard web server logs containing IP address and request timestamps, kept for 30 days.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Your hardware model, serial number, or identifying information from tests.
  • Your input data (button presses, mouse movements, etc.) from tests.
  • Your name, email, address, or any personal info — we have no signup form.
  • Test results — these stay in your browser and are not saved anywhere on our servers.

Cookies

This site uses minimal cookies:

  • Third-party cookies from Google AdSense for ad personalization (you can opt out).
  • No tracking, marketing, or session cookies set by us.

Browser Permissions

Some tools may ask for browser permissions to function:

  • Gamepad API — Required to read controller input. Granted automatically when a gamepad is connected.
  • WebHID — Used by the battery tester. You explicitly approve each device.
  • Pointer Lock — Used by polling rate testers. Released when you click again.

All permissions are revocable at any time through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

We may use:

  • Fontshare — serves our web fonts (Clash Display, Bricolage Grotesque).
  • Google AdSense — serves ads. Subject to Google's privacy policy.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect any data from anyone of any age, but if you are a parent and believe your child has used this site, no information about them is stored.

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top.
